About Me.

Born and raised in Lincoln, NE I grew up in a Christian home and going to church.  While I had good values and morals I was far from God.  After high school I met my wife Maritza and we began attending each other's churches.  Her church was a cultural shock to me as it was a Hispanic church.  God used that combined with a newfound purpose and enjoyment of music to catapult me into ministry.  Since my early days on stage at that small church I knew God was calling me to serve Him.

Maritza and I married in 2012 while I began looking for an avenue of formal education in worship ministry.  With large support from leaders at Capitol City Christian Church I began the Worship Arts Program at Nebraska Christian College (NCC).  All the while I grew in responsibilities at Capitol City from volunteer in 2013, to part time associate in 2014, and eventually the full time Worship Minister in 2017.  Eventually graduating from Hope International University in 2020, which NCC had merged with.

Maritza and I have three children; Augustine (9), Micah (5) and Gabriella (3), a dog and a cat.  We love to have fun by traveling, watching good movies, going on bike rides and making arts and crafts at home.

experience

2009-2012

Paid Volunteer
Ministerio Manantial De Vida

Lincoln, NE

I gave my life to Christ at this small Hispanic church and immediately dove right in to serving.  Quickly I began leading worship in Spanish and became a leader for the youth group.  The church never had any paid staff but they would compensated me with what they could as a paid volunteer.

2014-2023

Worship Minister

Capitol City Christian Church

Lincoln, NE

In 2014 I was brought on staff part time as a Worship Associate.  In 2017 I became the Worship Minister, overseeing the entire Worship Ministry.  I recruited, trained and gave pastoral care to a team of over 55 volunteers through 3 major senior leadership transitions.

2019-Present

Lincoln City Cohort Leader

Worship Leader Network

Regional Midwest

I really believe in the camaraderie between people who are "in the trenches" of worship ministry.  I have benefitted immensely from older wiser worship leaders who have gone on before me and it is one of the things that keeps me going.  The worshipleadernetwork.com exists to help facilitate these types of relationships by having regular gatherings for worship leaders.

In this role I have contributed towards the building of a Worship Department designing and implementing strategies toward gospel centered worship.  Including responsibilities such as leading worship, preaching and teaching classes

2023-present

Creative Arts Director

First Free Church

Lincoln, NE
